❄Intense frosts do more damage the more suddenly they appear and are easier to bear the more slowly they appear and disappear

❄ Also, the action of frost, especially on cereals, is considerably reduced if the ground is covered with snow

❄. Depending on the thickness of that layer, wheat can withstand frosts below -20°C, while in the case of bare soil its situation becomes critical even before -10°C. The harmful effects of frost also depend on:

❄duration of the freezing period;

❄the conditions under which the thaw occurs;

❄the exposure of the respective land to the wind and last but not least

❄condition of the ground before frost (watered or not).

❄Of all the frost periods, the most dangerous are the early autumn and late spring frosts, especially for cereals but also for trees that are in the budding or flowering phase! In straw cereals, low temperatures affect worst the plants that are in a more advanced state of vegetation (close to the end of twinning - the beginning of straw elongation)? A good practice in situations of late frosts is the administration of liquid fertilizers with foliar application with a high content of P, K, S, Cu and Amino Acids as soon as the temperatures both during the night and during the day reach a minimum of +8°C and the plant can resume its vegetation without being disturbed by the temperature alternation!
